Navitas GaN ICs drive Samsung Galaxy S22 fast charging

Navitas Semiconductor has announced that its GaNFast technology has been selected for Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S22 Ultra and S22+ smartphones. The small, powerful 45W Super Fast charger has the highest power density of any Samsung charger, enabled by GaNFast power ICs. The S22 Ultra, with 6.8″ screen and 5,000 mAhr battery, and the S22+ (6.6″ screen, 4,500 mAhr) are the latest-generation flagship smartphones from Samsung. The GaNFast 45W charger (model #EP-T4510) delivers fast-charging power across the complete USB-PD and PPS specification. Measuring only 47.4 x 27.9 x 43.6 mm (57.7 cc) the new Samsung fast charger achieves a power density over 1 W/cc. GaN is a next-generation semiconductor technology that runs up to 20x faster than legacy silicon chips. Navitas’ proprietary GaN power ICs integrate GaN power (FET) and GaN drive plus control and protection in a single SMT package. Soteria consortium partnership builds lithium-ion batteries with 26% higher energy density and >80% less copper and aluminum

DuPont Electronics & Industrial, Steinerfilm and Polaris Battery Labs have combined their capabilities to build batteries that have 26% higher energy density and use 80% less copper and aluminum than comparable batteries made with traditional materials. The improved energy density will increase the range of electric vehicles, make electric aviation more feasible and improve portable electronics.  More significantly, as electric vehicles grow more prevalent, this technology can reduce the dependence on scarce metals such as copper and aluminum that are needed for the other parts of the electric vehicles. With copper consumption in electric vehicles predicted to increase to 4 million tons annually by 2040, this could save millions of tons of copper. The current collectors were made from thermally stable, high strength DuPont™ Kapton® polyimide film, metallized by Steinerfilm to have 500 nm of metal on each side.  At 5 microns total thickness, they are the lightest, thinnest current collectors for lithium-ion batteries available, and use only 17% of the aluminum and copper used in normal batteries. 색 측정의 속도와 정확도를 높이는 ams의 AS7343 멀티 스펙트럼 센서

광학 솔루션의 글로벌 리더인 ams OSRAM이 AS7343 출시로 분광 센서 포트폴리오를 광범위하게 확장했다. 이 센서는 멀티 채널 색상 분석과 XYZ 센서 기술을 결합해 육안으로 빛의 색상과 강도를 측정하는 에이엠에스 오스람의 최초의 제품이다.  색도계, 휴대용 분광계, 소비자 기기에 채용되면 AS7343은 컬러매칭, 조명 제어 및 분광 분석의 응용 분야 사용자에게 생산성, 유연성, 기능성을 제공하게 된다. 이 신제품 다목적 센서는 빈번하고 정확한 측정이 필요한 응용 분야의 색상 분석용으로  이상적이다. 예를 들어, 온실이나 실내 농장에서는 원예용 조명의 분광 특성을 최적화하고 수확량과 에너지 효율성을 극대화하기 위해 색상 분석을 사용한다. 다양한 농작물의 성장은 가시 광선 스펙트럼의 여러 다른 기능으로 인해 촉진된다.  “AS7343은 농작물에 방사된 빛의 스펙트럼 측정을 빠르고 정확하게 제공한다. 이로 인해 본 센서는 각기 다른 식물 종에 적합한 빛의 요건과 매칭된다.” 고 언급한 ams OSRAM의 광학 센서 사업부 선임 마케팅 매니저인 케빈 젠슨(Kevin Jensen)은 “조명 설정은 필요에 따라 해당되는 스펙트럼에서 빛이 나오도록 조정될 수  있다”고 설명했다. 정밀한 스펙트럼 분석을 수행하는 소형 칩 14채널 AS7343은 3.1mm x 2mm x 1mm 플랫 패키지에 하우징된 칩이다. 이 칩은 광원 또는 반사광의 분광스펙트럼을 측정하는 분광기와 같은 기능을 하며  NIR채널 및 XYZ 기능을 포함해 가시 광선 스펙트럼에는 12개 동일한 간격의 측정 채널이 있다.  이전 제품 AS7341과는 다르게 AS7343는 멀티 채널 스펙트럼 센서와 XYZ 기술이 결합되었다. XYZ 채널은 육안으로 색상을 인식하는 표준 모델인 CIE 1931 XYZ 색상 공간에 일치한다. AS7343은 색 좌표로 알려진 XYZ 값을 직접 생성하는 기능으로 사용자에게 전체 스펙트럼 분석 또는 더 간단한 색상 스윕을 선택할 수 있는 유연성을 제공한다. 젠슨 매니저는 “AS7343을 사용하면 관심있는 대표적인 색상을  빠르게 전환하거나 필요에 따라 전체 해상도로 측정할 수 있다. 또한 센서의 멀티채널 기능을 통해 사용자는 메타메리즘(metamerism) 이라고 하는 잘못된 색상 매칭에 대한 육안의 민감성도 보정할 수 있으므로 더 정확한 색상 재현이 가능하다“고 강조했다. AS7343은 모든 광원과 반사광의 특징적인 스팩트럼 시그니처를 생성한다. 최대 6개의 채널을 동시에 사용할 수 있으므로 보다 유연한 사용이 가능하다. 이 신제품은 이전의 AS7341보다 최대 4배 민 감도가 높아 스펙트럼 전반에 걸쳐 보다 균형잡힌 색상 인식과 신호 분석이 향상되었다. 또한 자동 ADC 재구성은 더 빠른 멀티 채널 판독을 가능케 한다. 센서 크기가 작기 때문에 공간 제약이 있는 응용 분야에 적용하기 간편한 것도 또 다른 특징이다. 광범위한 응용 원예 조명과 같은 응용 분야에서는 일반적으로 분광 스펙트럼의 고해상도 측정을 제공하는  단일 센서 만으로도 충분하다. 그러나 더 높은 해상도가 필요한 경우, 두 개 이상의 AS7343 소자의 필터 반응 곡선을 겹치도록 구성하면 각 채널의 대역폭을 줄이고 측정 해상도를 높일 수 있다. 이 기술은 AS7341과 함께 사용 가능하다. AS7343 센서는 액체 또는 물질의 크로마토그래피 분석이 가능해 식물의 엽록소 농도 측정과 같은 원예 응용 분야에 적합하다. AS7343의 또 다른 응용 분야는 화재 경보기 및 열 경보기에서 연기 분광 시그니처 감지 기능이다. AS7343의 분광 분석을 통해 연기 센서는 타는 나무에서부터 플라스틱 또는 수증기에 이르기까지 다양한 유형의 연기를 구별할 수 있다.

텍사스 인스트루먼트(TI) 가 미세 진동 기능으로 카메라 시스템의 먼지, 얼음 및 물 등 오염물질을 빠르게 감지하고 제거할 수 있는 업계 최초의 초음파 렌즈 세정 (ULC, ultrasonic lens cleaning) 맞춤형 반도체를 출시했다. 일반적으로 카메라 렌즈의 오염물질을 제거하려면 수동식 세정이 필요하다. 수동식 세정은 시스템 다운타임을 유발하며, 오작동을 일으킬 수도 있는 다양한 기계 부품이 필요하다. This multi-die B-TRAN™ module, rated at 1200V 100A and incorporating double-sided cooling, is designed to meet the very low conduction loss needs of the solid-state circuit breaker (SSCB) market. 온세미의 실리콘 카바이드 소자, Ampt의 DC 옵티마이저 성능 향상시켜

지능형 전력 솔루션 업체인 온세미가  DC 스트링 옵티마이저 제품에 대한 높은 수요를 충족시키기 위해 Ampt와의 협업을 발표했다. Ampt는 세계 최고의 대규모 태양광(photovoltaic, PV) 및 에너지 저장 시스템용 DC에 최적화된 회사다. 이에 따라 Ampt는 실리콘 카바이드(SiC) 기술의 엘리트 실리콘 카바이드(EliteSiC) 제품군 중 일부인 온세미의 N-채널(Channel) SiC MOSFET을 중요한 전력 스위칭 애플리케이션을 위한 DC 스트링 옵티마이저에 사용하게 되었다. Ampt 스트링 옵티마이저는 대규모 PV 발전소에서 사용되어 태양열 발전소(solar power plant) 내에 배치된 저비용, 고성능의 태양열 및 DC 결합 에너지 저장 시스템을 사용 가능하게 한다. 스트링 옵티마이저는 600~1500VDC 범위의 시스템 전압에 대해 높은 고정 전압으로 PV 어레이에서 전력을 공급해 전체 전류 요구 사항과 발전소 비용을 줄인다. 지구 상공 약 1,200마일, 지구 저궤도(LEO: Low-Earth Orbit) 지역의 상업화는 우주 탐사와 위성 통신을 변화시키고 있다. 위성이 성공적으로 작동하고 목적지에 도달하기 위해서는 가혹한 우주 환경을 견딜 수 있는 부품을 선택하는 것이 필수적이다. 이에 따라 마이크로칩테크놀로지가 지금까지의 포트폴리오를 기반으로 COTS(Commercial-Off-the-Shelf) 내방사선 전력 소자군을 구축해 MIC69303RT, 3A LDO(Low-dropout) 전압 레귤레이터를 출시했다.  이 고전류 저전압의 MIC69303RT는 지구 저궤도(LEO) 및 기타 우주 애플리케이션을 위한 새로운 전력 관리 솔루션으로 우주 임무 수행에 필요한 요건들을 충족하면서 플라스틱과 밀폐 세라믹 버전 모두에서 프로토타입 샘플링을 가능케 한다. Coherent unveiled its new HyperRapid NXT industrial picosecond laser, with 10 W of average output power in the deep-ultraviolet (DUV), that enables ultraprecise edge ablation around OLED displays. The new HyperRapid NXT from Coherent is the industry’s first laser-based solution capable of ablating a microscopic channel around OLED displays while leaving adjacent areas intact. Proterra, a specialist innovator in commercial vehicle electrification technology, began to produce the Proterra Powered EV battery at its new Powered 1 battery manufacturing plant located in Greer, South Carolina. By achieving this end-to-end production milestone at Powered 1, Proterra is expected to begin deliveries to customers of Proterra Powered™ battery systems from the new battery factory in the first quarter of 2023. In addition, Powered 1 has started production of drivetrains and other ancillary systems incorporated into electric medium- and heavy-duty electric vehicles and equipment, such as high-voltage junction boxes. Powered 1 is Proterra’s first purpose-built, high-volume battery production plant in the Eastern United States with multiple gigawatt hours of annual production capacity planned at the facility. Proterra has already created more than 100 new jobs at the 327,000-square-foot battery plant, with roles including engineering, production, quality, and other positions within the company’s Proterra Powered & Energy business unit. By opening the company’s first battery factory in South Carolina Proterra is bringing state-of-the-art battery production closer to its Proterra Powered customers on the East Coast, Europe, and its own Proterra Transit electric bus manufacturing operations in Greenville, South Carolina.

FOTON, 유럽의 신에너지 사업 가속화하는 공동 개발 계약 체결 

FOTON이 새로운 경형 전기사용차를 개발하고자 유럽 파트너와 계약을 체결했다. 이 계약은 2017년 9월에 양측이 경형상용차 시장을 위한 혁신 솔루션을 공동 개발하기 위해 체결한 파트너십을 더욱 강화할 전망이다. 양측은 향후 수개월 동안 프로젝트 기술 문서를 최종적으로 확정하고, 2023년 봄까지 계약을 마무리할 계획이다. 이번 신규 계약은 2018년 5월에 양측이 FOTON의 미니 트럭 제품 플랫폼을 기반으로 유럽 시장을 겨냥한 새로운 경형상용차 제품을 개발 및 생산하고자 체결한 파트너십을 강화할 전망이다. 2년 이상의 공동 개발 끝에, 2021년 1월 26일에 양측의 첫 도시형 트럭 NP6가 유럽에서 출시됐다. 이 트럭은 유럽 기준을 완전히 준수한다. 올 11월에 이탈리아 파두아에서 열린 Green Logistics Expo 2022에서, FOTON은 유럽 시장을 겨냥해 개발한 모든 전기 트럭을 선보이면서, 유럽 신에너지 시장에 진출하고자 하는 신호를 보였다. 올 6월, FOTON은 이미 유럽에 등장하기 시작했다. 6월 3일, FOTON은 독일 뮌헨에서 열린 IFAT 전시회에서 유럽 시장을 겨냥해 특별히 개발한 순수 전기 트럭 2종을 최초로 공개했다. 이후 FOTON은 유럽 신에너지 시장 진출을 본격화했다. 유럽 연합은 2035년부터 새로운 내연기관 자동차를 실질적으로 금지하는 것에 합의한 것으로 알려졌다. 그에 따라, 유럽 신에너지 자동차 시장은 빠르게 발달할 전망이다.
